The ASV is a critical resource for shelter veterinarians. It offers leadership, paradigm shifts, information and community. Membership is open to veterinarians and veterinary students. If you join only one organization, it should be this one.

Maddie’s Fund

Maddie’s Fund, named for a beloved dog, is a family foundation that awards grants toward increased community lifesaving, shelter medicine education, and pet adoptions in the U.S. Maddie’s Fund “is the fulfillment of a promise to an inspirational dog and the creation of a goal towards achieving a no-kill nation where all healthy and treatable shelter dogs and cats are guaranteed a loving home.”

Koret Shelter Medicine

The Koret Shelter Medicine Program at the School of Veterinary Medicine,
University of California-Davis, provides a searchable reference library with a wealth of information about shelter medicine, as well as the Virtual Consultant, a web-based tool that helps shelters assess their operations and provides guidance on how to improve.

ASPCA Pro

Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association
